The RN is responsible for thedelivery of quality patient care on the assigned hospital unit. The quality of care given will be inkeeping with the philosophy, mission and values of the hospital and theDepartment of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursingcare and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, theirfamilies, and the community. TheRegistered Nurse in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team coordinatesand supervises the nursing activities within an organized unit of thehospital.
Identifies opportunities andparticipates in performance improvement activities as directed. Identifies assignments and participates inunit performance improvement activities as directed. The Registered Nurse is responsible formeeting JC standards, complying with all state and federal regulations,complying with corporate policy and procedures, managing supplies andequipment, promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers,promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and for appropriateresource management.
Provides and documents patient care based on the nursing process incompliance with hospital policies and procedures. Plans, delegates and coordinates the nursingcare of assigned patients.
Utilizes basic physical and psychosocial assessment skills to identifyactual nursing diagnosis/clinical problems based on assessment of patient andunique age specific needs.
The Registered Nurse will work to support and protect the rights ofeach patient served, treats each patient with dignity and care, and maintainspatient confidentiality/privacy.
Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patientfalls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical valuereporting, and administration of blood products.
Provides appropriate patient/family education, per department andhospital policy and procedures.
Required Education: Graduatedfrom an accredited school of nursing. Level entry training may be a DiplomaProgram in Nursing, an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's Degree inNursing
RequiredLicense/Certification: Florida RN License
American HeartAssociation BLS Health Care Provider
ACLS within 6 months
PALS/ TNCC/CPI within 1 year of hire
Preferred Experience: Oneyear Emergency Department Nursing experience preferred
