JOB SUMMARYnResponsible for delivery of individualized age appropriate nursing care to patients through use of the nursing process in accordance with Cornerstone Medical Centeru2019s Plan for the Provision of Nursing Care, Standards of Care, and Standards of Practice.Generally, functions independently under guidance of Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager.Must be able to utilize problem-solving process and independently make judgments and decisions.Supervises the care provided by LPNs, Paramedics and non-professional nursing personnel.nJOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs and documents accurate vital signs, initial and ongoing assessment of patient reflective of physical status, pain level, and age and developmental needs as per unit policy. n Observes and respects the confidentiality of information regarding patients, physicians, employees and hospital. n Initiates individualized age appropriate nursing care plan to include physiological, psychological and environmental factors; patient/family education, and discharge planning, with measurable expected outcomes; revises age appropriate care plan based on new data and patient condition. n Accurately transcribes and effectively carries out physician orders in a timely manner according to CMC policy and procedure. n Administers and documents medications and treatments in accordance with CMC policy and procedure.Administers IV fluids according to policy to assure accuracy of flow rate and volume administered, identify infiltration/complications with appropriate interventions, and documentation. n Initiates measures to assure appropriate intake and output for patientu2019s condition, age, and weight; documents intervention and results. n Provides age appropriate patient teaching on an on-going basis, including family/significant others in the process when applicable. n Documents observations of patientu2019s progress or lack of progress in response to the age appropriate plan of care and response to nursing/drug/interventions in accordance to CMC policy. n Prioritizes tasks and organizes work to complete assignment in a timely manner. n Adjusts to and manages stressful situations caused by changes in patient acuity, patient mix and staffing u2013 patient ratio. n Demonstrates understanding and implementation of emergency protocols (code, disaster, fire, bomb threat, etc.) n Assist in orienting new employees to the general hospital policies, procedures, and practices specific to the individual unit. nIdentifies personal educational needs or goals and completes education programs to meet needs and goals and completes annual competency modules and any required in-services for assigned unit prior to evaluation date.
