Position Summary Operation of the Flight For Life ground ambulances in a safe, professional efficient manner. Accountability for compliance with maintenance schedules, daily readiness of the vehicles, and overall cleanliness. Clinical assistance to other team members within the scope of the EMT role. Assistance to Flight Operations administration and to the Emergency Departments within the scope of the EMT role. Education Requirements (i.e., BSN, High School Diploma, GED) High School Diploma or GED Work Experience Two years licensed driver; one year driving an ambulance as an EMT in the pre-hospital area; familiarity with Denver area; one year as an EMT License\/Certifications (i.e., RN, ARRT,BLS, ACLS, BLS) Colorado State EMT certification Valid Colorado driver\u2019s license and no moving violations for past two years. Completion of Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operator (CVEO) within 6 months of hire date BLS certification required from American Heart Association.\u00a0 Position Reports To: RN Clinical Coordinator Position Duties (essential job functions, INCLUDE % OF TIME) 50% Driving safely and in compliance with traffic laws and FFL policies, including all Code 3 operations to maximize safety of all occupants and other vehicles\u2019 occupants. Compliance with maintenance schedules for the ambulances. Performance of daily checks of fluid levels, tire pressures, fuel, electrical systems and medical gas pressures. Maintains cleanliness of ambulance interior and exterior. Participates in decontamination of ambulance and equipment when necessary. Keeps vehicle stocked according to supply list. Knowledgeable re geography of area and routes to referring facilities, airport. Maintains radio communications with CMC, State Patrol when necessary, and local facilities. Tracks and reports loaded and round trip mileage to CMC and or medical crew.\u00a0 Oversees and participates in safe loading and offloading of the ambulance, RW, and FW. 30% At direction of the flight nurse, obtains vital signs, puts patient on CR monitor, assists in moving the patient to the CCT pram or flight stretcher, and other duties as assigned by the flight nurse. Maintains familiarity with all medical equipment. Serves as second crewmember on the FW or RW flights when needed. Provides reassurance and comfort to family members. Demonstrates compassion in interactions with families and patients. Assists in ER with patient care within scope of practice, except in activities that would prevent an immediate response for a transport.\u00a0 20% Provides assistance to Flight Operations administrative staff as requested, and is accountable for completing\/continuing assignments.
