GENERAL SUMMARY: \u00a0Provides professionaldirect patient care during transport of patients in the ground ambulanceenvironment or in the Emergency Room setting. Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, andgeriatrics. Paramedics also function as a preceptor for new employees andparamedic students. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS: Assess patients with traumatic medicalconditions with findings reflected in the patient record. Triages, prioritizes, and anticipates patients\u2019needs. Develops a plan of care. Provides ongoing evaluation, altering the planof care as indicated. Documents findingsand interventions. Implements interventions consistent withprotocols documenting response to treatment. Prepares equipment and supplies. Checks medical equipment and supplies on adaily basis, restocking and cleaning the rig after each transport. Operates required vehicle(s) in a safe manner toperform required duties of the position. Provides stand-by EMS service atevents. Assists with station duties. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: High school diploma preferred or high schoolequivalency. Current certification as a Paramedic in theState of Iowa required. Critical Care ParamedicEndorsement required within 3 years of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained withinthree (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies andcertifications include American Red Cross CPR\/AED for the Professional Rescuerand American Heart Association Basic Life Support. AdvancedCardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within three (3)months of hire. The acceptablecredentialing body for this requirement is the American Heart Association. Proof ofcompletion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within3 months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support trainingrequired within 6 months of hire Valid driver\u2019s\/ChauffeursLicense required.
