JOB SUMMARY
THIS POSITION WILL WORK AT OUR VIRTUAL MONITORING CENTER LOCATED AT 2301 BRAMBLETON AVENUE, ROANOKE, VA.

The EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic contributes to the mission of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. by providing patient monitoring and virtual care services for patients across the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. system. The clinical operation of centralized telemetry and other patient monitoring takes place 24/7/365 at the Virtual Care Operations Center. The Virtual Care Operations EMT I/P works with a diverse team of specialized technicians in this remote patient-centered care environment. The Virtual Care EMT I/P assists with a variety of indirect patient care activities and the continuous monitoring of patient's vital signs including cardiac rhythm by: responding to all alarms detected; identifying cardiac arrhythmias; reporting significant events; tracking patient activities; documenting abnormalities; and producing reports. Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection as pertinent to the patient population.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

*Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, MD, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure *Observes, records, and reports conditions in the EMR Utilizes excellent communication skills in dealing with staff, peers, patients and family members in diverse situations. *Continuous and intermittent monitoring of patients for any potential safety risks and provide immediate intervention via direct communication to the patient, hospital staff or physician as needed. *Keeps current on treatment techniques, protocol changes, material and equipment. Takes responsibility for own actions and those of support team members. Coordinates activities with external entities when *Maintains continuing education requirements by National, State, and Carilion standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent required. Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical program in paramedic studies preferred.
 

EXPERIENCE: ONE YEAR OF EMT-I OR PARAMEDIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certified in the State of Viginia as an EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic and maintains National Registered status (preferred). AHA BLS - HCP, and ACLS required. NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year from date of hire.
 

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
