Provides comprehensive emergency medical care to the critically ill and injured during helicopter and ground transport from accident scenes, and referring hospitals, under the supervision of medical control physicians, or as directed by Emergency/Trauma Service physicians and Resource Nurse for patients admitted to MedSTAR.
High school degree or GED diploma is required, plus specialized and/or advanced clerical, technical or other vocational training acquired during 1 – 2 years of additional job-related training. Successful completion of the Department of Transportation (DOT) module Paramedic course is required.
Minimum of three years experience required as an NREMT-P with significant field experience in a high acuity, high volume EMS system, and pre/intra hospital experience is strongly preferred.
National Registry EMT – Paramedic, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
Within 90 days of Employment:
VA EMT-P, MD EMT-P, DC EMT-P, Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300.
Within 180 days of Employment:
Certification from the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC) in one of the following; Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP-C).
