This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia. The incumbent will utilize expertise in managing the complexity and unpredictability of critical events as the affect GPO assets.

The Selectee will work shift 1 Monday- Friday and a tour of duty from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm.

\tMonitor all risk activity of Law Enforcement emergencies, medical emergencies, and variety of alarm systems.
\tPerforms Control Center duties involving passing of directions and information to officers on patrol assignments, coordinating emergency responses between security, fire, and other emergency units, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints.
\tAnswers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephones calls, communicating effectively with various callers to obtain complete information to determine urgency and need for dispatching system, telephones, multi-channel radio, TDD (text telephone device for hearing/speech impaired), numerous law enforcement and agency databases and automated map systems.
\tUpdates emergency operation incident records and report; ensures preliminary and updated information is provided to all Business Units/agencies.
\tInputs and receives sensitive information on the Department of Justice National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
\tPerforms other related duties as assigned.
,qualifications:To qualify for the Emergency Services Dispatcher, PG -2151-7, you must meet the following requirements:

To minimally qualify for the PG-2151-07 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience at the PG-06 or equivalent grade level or higher. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include performing work that involved:

\tprocessing information into databases related to incident support;
\tmaintaining communication logs and summary reports; and
\tutilizing dispatching procedures and equipment to dispatch police, fire, medial, etc., to related emergencies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
