The Peer Support Aide provides non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from high risk of dependent alcohol and drug use problems. The Peer Support Aide will work as part of the Emergency Department team to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment for alcohol or drug dependency and addiction issues. The Peer Support Aide will assist in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment services. Services will be provided in the Emergency Department with appropriate follow-up.

Grade - 45
High school diploma or G.E.D.
The candidate must be very familiar with the steps and processes of recovery programs.
Mental health / recovery program training and / or certification
Effective Communication skills, both verbal and written as well problem-solving and listening skills.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to patients and health professionals, as well as an ability to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies.
Ability to read, interpret documents and write routine reports
Basic Computer Skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
Willingness to learn and an interest in acquiring new skills
