High School Diploma or GED
Responsible for monitoring and responding to all calls for service coming into the Emergency Communication Center, handling emergency and non-emergency calls for service, answering all telephone calls, emergency call boxes, and any text messaging or emails systems. Performs police dispatching functions and maintains a communications link with external public safety agencies to ensure appropriate response of external first responders. Monitors and maintains functionality of security systems including: video surveil-lance systems, performs virtual patrol functions, initiates the mass notification system, monitors electronic door access control systems, and monitors the College’s fire alarm safety systems.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two to three years of related experience as a dispatcher or required course work/certification and or specialized skills/training in a related field.

Monitors and maintain video college police surveillance systems, door access control, and various emergency communications equipment.
Responsible for monitoring the College Police Dispatch and Emergency Communication Center.
Receives calls from community regarding emergency and non-emergency incidents, and requests for assistance and/or information.
Maintains appropriate records of calls received and action taken.
Operates Emergency Communications computer and record management systems as needed.
Monitors and transmits communications using two-way station/portable radio(s).
Communicates directly with Prince George’s County Emergency Services (911), other law enforcement and communications agencies when necessary.
Maintains status of College Police Officers assigned to duty during his/her shift.
Handles document management for shift assigned.
Keeps on duty Officers and Command Staff advised of situational developments.
Acquires and maintains detailed knowledge of Prince George’s Community College and the extension centers.
Adheres to all applicable procedures in the College Police General Orders Manual.
Monitors, and operates all surveillance (cameras), electronic door access, and Code Blue security systems.
Initiates the College’s mass notification alerting system when appropriate.
Handle confidential information in accordance with nondisclosure regulations and department procedures.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Must be willing and able to work flexible day, evening, night, weekend and/or holidays shifts.
Pass and maintain sufficient background for public safety employment.
Pass Departmental training on security and communication management systems (surveillance systems, door access control, emergency communications equipment, etc.).
Ability to effectively communicate in spoken and written standard English.
A limited background investigation will be conducted prior to offer of employment. A signed authorization for release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
