Emergency services jobs are provided by organizations which ensure public safety and health by dealing with different emergencies.   • They also work as a member of the flight crew to transport critically injured patients
  • Helps in the transfer of patients to emergency departments
  • Provides emergency treatment and help transfer patients to emergency department
If you want to pursue a career as an emergency medical technician or paramedics, you need a high school diploma to qualify for the emergency medical training program which emphasizes on emergency skills like trauma and cardiac emergencies, patient assessment and respiratory management. The program also provides practice in dealing with fractures and bleeding, cardiac arrest, emergency childbirth, or airway obstruction. All states require EMT's to be licensed and licensure renewal is required every 2-3 years and they must take refresher course and training to be able to complete the continuing education. EMT's can become supervisors, managers, or even administrative and executive directors of the emergency services and the job outlook is increasing due to the aging population.

  • Call your local hospital's human resources and inquire about the degree, skill set and experience required for the job as this information may vary depending on the hospital
  • Get a bachelor's degree in nursing or other related medical field and obtain appropriate certifications. Other hospitals may require applicants to have a master's degree.
  • Gain the necessary medical field experience that may take years
  • Possess supervisory or excellent leadership skills, communication skills, creativity as well as administrative abilities because you have to interact with other people.
  • Obtain good computer and customer service skills and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities as well as critical thinking.
  • Determine the location of the hospital you want to work with when finding work in this field.
  • Strive to exceed your qualification because emergency services jobs are very competitive.
  • Be familiar with the guidelines for this position as they vary by state.
  • Expect to work extended hours because hospitals are open at all times and you must be able to deal with levels of stress when performing challenges that goes with the job.
